~ Autumn ~

I call this little quilt "Autumn".
It reminds me of the colors of leaves in the fall;
gold, greens, browns,  and rust.

Here is the front view.
Blocks are called log cabin variations.
I had to piece together some tiny scraps
to make this little quilt.  I don't mind.
I like to use up every last piece of fabric I can.

The back view.
A piece of fabric picked up from a yard sale.
Loved the fall scene with the dogs and pumpkins;
had to add a strip of fabric at top and bottom to fit the quilt top.

Here is the quilt as a table topper;
before being put into the washer.
It lies flat and thin.

After being washed the little quilt has shrunk in size
and is all lumpy and soft.

I know it is Summer; but we have so much overcast
with clouds that this morning seemed more like a day in fall.

    1. Thank you Chip Butter! I love the fall colors too. This little quilt started by my reaching into my box of scraps and picking the center square darker rust color and grew from that. We had lots of clouds and overcast but no rain for us. So sad.

  4. Your Autumn quilt is oozing lovely autumnal colours. Love the fabric on the back. Your quilt looks lovely together with the lovely leaf centrepiece. Is this a felt embroidery?

    1. Thank you Kim. With only having such a small piece of the background fabric; I just couldn't find myself cutting it up. So happy that it found a place in one of my quilts. The little centerpiece is a wool felt design. It was a kit I purchased a long time ago.

  5. Fall is my favorite time. The rich colors and cool tempertures, ahhh. I love how you used up all your scraps, like the early quilters did. Even my very small scraps I save. The will go into a postage stamp quilt someday. I like how quilts get 'lumpy' after washing. It gives them 'charactor'.

    1. I was lucky enough that the piecing was done in a way that you really have to look to find them. I have a postage stamp quilt in progress; I add to it now and then.

    1. We had some more dark clouds yesterday early evening. I prayed that the clouds would just let out a down pour of needed rain. We only had a drop now and then and a drizzle for just a few. It made for a very high humidity afterwards. This Spring and Summer have not been as nice as some others. We all have something to look forward to with "Autumn" coming around the corner.

    1. Thank you Sherri. I like the look of a washed and dried quilt too. Spring and Fall are often people's favorite times of year; sadly they don't seem to last long enough.

  10. I think this is my favorite of all the projects you have shown. It is such a pretty reminder of Fall (my favorite season). It seems to be the most fleeting of all of the seasons. I like how you make the most of the materials you have.

    1. Thank you. Sometimes I need to make a small quilt to feel the fun of having a finish; when all my big quilts take so long to stitch.
